Who We Are: The Seattle Band Named After The Ring
If you've ever shouted along to "Die Romantic" or "I Set My Friends on Fire", you already know us. But where did the band come from, and where does the name come from? Here's a quick guide for new listeners and old ones.
Where are we from?
We formed in Seattle, Washington, in the spring of 2003. Singer wiL Francis fronted the band from the first year to the last.
Where does our name come from?
The band is named after Aidan Keller, the boy in the 2002 horror film The Ring. In Francis's words: "Dude, that kid's just spooky." The film spells it Aidan; we went with Aiden.
Who was in the band?
The classic line-up that made the early records:
- wiL Francis: lead vocals and piano
- Angel Ibarra: lead guitar
- Jake Wambold: rhythm guitar
- Nick Wiggins: bass
- Jake Davison: drums
By the end, Francis was joined by Ian MacWilliams on guitar, Kenneth Fletcher on bass and Ben Tourkantonis on drums.
What do we sound like?
Dark, loud and theatrical: post-hardcore and emo with plenty of horror punk and gothic rock mixed in.
